We acquired it from the office of a local book distributor, that had been around since the middle of the previous century. This piece is about 50 - 60 years old.。According to the manufacturer's label, inside of one of the drawers, the laminate "protects against scratches, stains, cigarette burns, abrasions, boiling water, and alcohol." Although I can't tell how good it holds up to everything listed, the Formica has certainly done a very good job protecting the piece because this cabinet is in great shape! There are the typical nicks and light scratches that are commonly found on old, used furniture, however, there are no breaks, cracks, gouges, or any other serious flaws.
